Skirt Steak with Onion

Ingredients

3 onions, sliced
4 tablespoons olive oil
3 lbs. skirt steak
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 cup teriyaki sauce
4 cloves garlic, minced

Preparation

Soak the steak in cold water to clean and to remove excess salt that is soaked in the meat. Soak it for 15 minutes, pat dry.
Heat oil in sauté pan and sauté onions until brown and caramelized. Spread garlic and Dijon mustard on the steak. Place cooked onions on top and then teriyaki sauce. Marinate for 6 hours. Either broil the meat for 8 minutes each side, checking often to make sure it is not too overcooked or grill the meat until medium rare on a prepared barbeque or grill pan. If grilling the meat, pour the marinate and onions in a sauce pan and cook until reduced and thickened a little, about 6 minutes.

  1. My husband and I loved this one — it took me about 3 minutes to prepare (aside from the onions, which I usually fry up just in case anyway,) and tasted amazing. I added a few more garlic cloves, and made sure to marinate both sides of the meat. I actually only left it marinating for a couple of hours before cooking it since I didn’t have 6 hours to spare, and it tasted just fine that way. Also, we cooked it at around 400 for 10 minutes — came out a lovely medium rare.

  2. we loved this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ended up making it but didnt eat it o stuck it raw in freezer then took it out one morning and had it that night and was sooooo good!!!
