It’s here and GKC has it! Susie Fishbein’s much-awaited new Kosher by Design Teens & 20-Somethings. (Official and complete review by GKC coming next week but we couldn’t wait to offer one to one lucky winner!)
Like her other books, it’s full of diverse recipes and gorgeous photos. I can’t wait to try the chocolate pretzel tart, the Tex-Mex Salad, and the Apricot Sesame Roast. Susie says, “This new cookbook equips young adults with knowledge and skills to create their own amazing foods, from a quick and delicious snack to a whole party.” The instructions are clear and its perfect for kids to adults with only basic kitchen equipment.
We asked her how she decided what to include in this book. “I simply write about what I like to eat. I like to keep things fresh and exciting in the kitchen. I look for inspiring ideas from countries that have interesting cuisine. I take an eclectic approach and end up with fun combinations.” That sounds a lot like what we like to do at GKC too.
Kosher by Design Teens & 20-Somethings also includes important tips for healthy eating, safety in the kitchen, essential utensils, and menu planning. Anyone with food sensitivities will appreciate the convenient sidebar symbols that indicate gluten-free, fat-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian recipes.

Even though I own many cookbooks, my husband likes young good food. The fancy stuff doesn’t appeal to him. I am so excited for this new cookbook, because it seems to be aimed for his taste buds!
I’m excited for this new cookbook as my kids love to help me in the kitchen!
I love Susie Fishbein’s cookbooks. I look forward to adding this one to my collection (especially if it has a recipe that includes chocolate pretzels!).
I have several cookbooks which I love but find there are only a few recipes in each that appeal to my entire family. I look forward to Susie Fishbein’s new cookbook as I think it might have some fresh ideas which will appeal to everyone.

My mother was a cook by profession and I was lucky enough to inheret her love of cooking! I have so many different cookbooks that I love to look through and get new recipes! I loved when Susie’s “kids in the kitchen” cookbook came out because my kids are always in the kitchen with me and we experement with different recipes together. This cookbook was geared right to them and was perfect! Now that they are getting older this will be a great new cookbook for us to go through together!
Just discovery this site today, looking forward to trying lots of new recipes

My son has his own apaartment now and is always having his 20 something friends over for Shabbos meals. I would love to win this cookbook for him. I do own many of Susie’s other cookbooks and I use them all the time.
I think every Shabbos I make at least one recipe from Susie Fishbein (but with GKC giving much competition!). Her newest cookbook looks great!
This new KbD cookbook sounds wonderful! Looking forward to getting it (whatever way it happens:)) One question: By parve Nutella, do you mean the Israeli stuff or Elite? Nutella is dairy (but delicious!) Thanks for all you do, Ellen
I buy the pareve Israeli brand but there is another one on the market by Gefen too. You can use Nutella, which is delicious if you want to make it dairy.
Would LOVE to win this- love your website, love susie fishbein- great combination!

This is an old standard I am sure everyone already knows, but it is so simple for teens just beginning to cook that it encourages them to keep learning and experimenting.
Apricot Chicken
6 frozen skinless, boneless chicken breasts (not thawed)
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
1/2 cup Russian or French salad dressing
1 cup apricot preserves or jam
2 TBS apple cider vinegar
1 tsp dried thyme or basil leaves
1/8 tsp fresh cracked pepper
In 3-4 quart slow cooker, arrange chicken pieces. Mix remaining ingredients in a medium bowl and pour over chicken. Stir to coat. Cover crockpot. If you have a heritage crockpot that cooks the way they were originally meant to, cook on Low for 6-8 hours. If you have a newer crockpot that cooks hot, check the chicken for doness between 4-6 hours. In either case, cook on Low until chicken is thoroughly cooked and tender.
If you like, you can thicken the mixture before serving. Combine 2 TBS cornstarch with 3 TBS water or chicken stock and mix until smooth to make a slurry. Add to the crockpot; turn to high for 10-15 minutes until sauce is thickened. Serve with hot cooked rice or pasta. Serves 6
